Finding Strength and Wisdom in Trials Together

Finding strength and wisdom through trials

As we mentioned in our last post, we are reading through the Book of James. We enjoy using the Bible app to highlight verses that capture our attention. We've noticed that as we read through the Book of James, we find many verses we've highlighted before!

"Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him"  James 1:12

Guys, what trials are we going through right now? This world can throw a lot at us. The list goes on for relationship challenges, health issues, work "stuff," and financial struggles. Sometimes, life, in general, can feel like a trial.

We get it. This week, we have had trials to work through, helping others and within our businesses. The question we ask ourselves is, how do we respond in a way that glorifies our God? Well, a few verses that we picked up during our reading in James that help:

"If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.  But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind"  James 1:5-6

Wow, what a shocker. When unsure what to do, ask God for wisdom and believe he will come through for us!

"Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go.  Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts" James 3:4

How do we use our words when navigating the difficult waters of life? Words matter!

"Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up." James 4:10

Wait, what about our EGO? Humble ourselves before the Lord? YES, guys, this one hits us right between the eyes. We are not the God in our lives. We don't get to decide the trials that we will go through. We can only choose how we will respond to them. Who are we putting our trust in, ourselves or our God?

Lastly, when you are going through something tough, who do you have here to support you?  In our trials this week, we were greatly encouraged by EACH OTHER. We are in it together, knowing we have each other's backs and TRUST.

Going through life together.  Discovering purpose together.  And having each other's backs when we need it.
