Are You the Man God Created You to Be?
Winter hit hard this past weekend, and while spring is around the corner, we know that in life, storms will always come. As men striving to follow God, how do we stay strong in the face of challenges?
At Seven24, there’s a verse framed in our office that serves as a constant reminder: “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong; do everything in love.” — 1 Corinthians 16:13-14
This verse, written by Paul in his final words to the Corinthians, outlines five key characteristics of a godly man. It’s direct. It’s clear. And in today’s world, it’s more important than ever.
1. Be on Your Guard
The enemy is always lurking, looking for ways to distract, deceive, and pull us off course. He doesn’t come with flashing warning signs; instead, he disguises himself as light (2 Corinthians 11:14).
Recently, we watched a sermon on technology’s impact on faith, and one statistic jumped out—over 80% of people are addicted to their phones. Social media is shaping our relationships, our time, and even our faith. Depression among teens is up 63% in the past decade.
Men, it’s time to take inventory. Are we guarding our hearts and minds, or are we letting distractions shape us?
2. Stand Firm in the Faith
Today’s culture tells us to follow our feelings, but faith calls us to stand firm in truth. It’s not always easy. Being a Christian isn’t always popular. But as men, we must stay grounded—not through confrontation, but through love and conviction.
3. Be Courageous
Living as a godly man requires courage. It means standing up for truth, leading our families, and choosing faith over fear.
“Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)
Take heart—God is always with us, and we have each other. The men of Seven24 are here to stand with you in this fight.
4. Be Strong
We will get knocked down. Life will test us. But we are not called to quit.
“But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.” (2 Chronicles 15:7)
True strength isn’t found in never falling—it’s in getting back up. And remember, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13).
5. Do Everything in Love
Above all, love must lead us. We can stand firm, be courageous, and fight the good fight, but if we don’t do it in love, we’ve missed the point.
“We love because He first loved us.” (1 John 4:19)
The way we treat others matters. Our words, our actions, and our leadership should reflect God’s love.
As we step into this week, let’s ask ourselves:
• Are we guarding our hearts and minds?
• Are we standing firm in truth?
• Are we leading with courage and strength?
• Are we loving well?
God is counting on us. Let’s be the men He created us to be.
