Embrace Perseverance to Build Character and Hope on Your Journey
This week, we are challenging ourselves to consider living on "The Road Less Traveled." What does that mean? Well, we were inspired this last week by the book by M. Scott Peck, M.D., with exactly that title. Dr. Peck challenges the reader to live life facing challenges, grow through hardship, and deepen spiritual knowledge.
"Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character hope." Romans 5:3-4
Perseverance, Character, and Hope. These are not just words. They are the pillars of our journey. We've discussed perseverance, but let's not forget the rewards it brings-Character and Hope. These are the two most important words for us MEN to remember. Living a life defined by Godly Character and having Hope for what's to come is our ultimate goal.
We men are built to work, protect, and compete, among other attributes. Are we using these God-given abilities or letting them sit and collect dust in our closets? We often reference coach Jim Harbaugh's quote: "Attack each day with enthusiasm unknown to mankind."
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving." Colossians 3:23-24
Guys, remember, you are not alone in this journey. God has given us the Holy Spirit to support us, and we have each other. Who can you encourage, support, or connect with TODAY? Don't hesitate to reach out if you need some encouragement or support. Whether it's to God, to the U.S., or to someone you trust, remember, we are here for each other.
"We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ." 1 Thessalonians 1:3
Read through this last verse in Thessalonians several times. Reflect on it. Why do we wake up every day and "get after it"? Because we have FAITH that Christ died on the cross for the U.S., we have the LOVE Christ in our hearts, and we have the ENDURANCE to travel the road many are unwilling to travel. All because we have the privilege and honor to wake up with a HOPE for eternal life in Heaven!
Men, know we are here for you and praying for you this morning. We pray that you will be encouraged, find the support you need if you are struggling, and, most importantly, feel the love of Christ in your life. You are not alone in this journey.
We are gearing up for what God has in store for Seven24 this coming year. Please mark your calendars for December 3rd; we have a great event and speaker lined up. We are also looking to bring back the group devotionals. We will be planning several serving opportunities over the coming year.
