What Foot Washing Teaches Us About Brotherhood.

As we enter Holy Week, we remember our Savior's sacrifice on OUR behalf.
We reflected on the events leading up to Christ's death and resurrection and specifically recalled the night of the Last Supper when Jesus washed the disciple's feet.
"Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power and that he had come from God and was returning to God, so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples' feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him." John 13:3-5 NIV
It is a relatively simple task, but so meaningful. From God, soon returning to God. Yet taking time to wash the feet of those men closest to him. As he finished, he instructed the disciples:
"Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. I have set an example that you should do as I have done for you." John 13:14-15 NIV
Have you ever washed another man's feet? Would we? Are we willing to lower ourselves, go against the grain, and maybe hit our egos for our Brothers in Christ? We get it. Maybe it's not meant to be literal. Or maybe it is.
Regardless, let's all take time to reflect this week. Consider the price Jesus paid on our behalf. Consider what sacrifices we are making for our brothers in Christ. What can we do to make a difference this week?
"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms." 1 Peter 4:10 NIV
Have a blessed week, Gentlemen.
