God is Listening. Are You Ready to Talk to Him?

Listening

We’re continuing our journey through the book "Two Chairs," which Coach Maloney recommended at our summer event. Over the past couple of weeks, we've been diving into the meaningful dialogue and reflections this book encourages.

Remember the three foundational "Two Chairs" questions:

1️⃣ Does God know your situation? Absolutely—never a doubt.

2️⃣ Is it too hard for Him to handle? What? No way! God can handle anything we face if we open our hearts and speak to Him. Remember, He's awake all night waiting for you to rise! Think about that.

"He will not let your foot slip. He who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will never slumber or sleep." Psalm 121:3-4

3️⃣ Does He have a good plan for you?

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

In previous Fist Bumps, we’ve highlighted the importance of daily, intentional conversations with God. Find a quiet space, grab two chairs, you in one, God in the other, and genuinely listen and talk.

Don't just consider it, do it!

We also talked about the importance of a "WHO" friend, someone God intentionally placed in your life as a trusted support. Listen closely; God will reveal who this person is. Take active steps to nurture that relationship.

Today, let's focus on CHANGE—specifically, being open to it and having the courage and strength to embrace it, even when it’s tough. The book points out our natural resistance to needed change, even hesitation to ask God directly:

"God, is there one thing that YOU would like ME to change today?"

Maybe it’s your attitude, a relationship needing repair, dedicating more time to family, or shifting focus from yourself to others. Have you truly asked God, listened carefully, and then ACTED?

If you're anything like us, hearing is easy, acting is the hard part. But "Two Chairs" advises not even starting the conversation if you're unwilling to act. God wants a dialogue because He loves you and has an incredible plan awaiting your courage to step forward.

Sometimes, change is forced upon us, like a job loss, a broken marriage, or difficult health news. Unfortunately, in our fallen world, challenges come. When they do, lean into your relationship with your Creator. Open your heart, talk to Him honestly, and rely on your WHO friend to share your burdens. Transparency isn’t easy, but you won't regret taking that courageous step.

One last, vital point from "Two Chairs": don't only reach out to God when trouble hits.

Build your relationship daily so when challenges arrive, you're not just on your first date with God. Just like a WHO friend, it's much easier to lean on someone you already know and trust. Put this verse where you'll see it daily:

"Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you." (James 4:8)

Be vulnerable. Open up. Make it happen this week! Take that essential step toward strengthening your relationship with your Creator.

Make it a daily habit. REMEMBER:

  • He knows your situation.

  • Whatever you’re facing or need to change, He can handle it.

  • He has a wonderful plan for your life—trust Him, stay connected, and ACT.

We’re praying for each of you, hoping you'll boldly take the step to start an intimate conversation with God this week. You might just be amazed at what happens!
