Let's Slow Down and Talk to God Today.

Listen

Well, summer is here. We hope you're enjoying the 90-degree days and getting a chance to cool down at the lake or in a pool. There's nothing quite like a Michigan summer.

On the devotion front, we're continuing our journey through the "wisdom books" of the Bible—Job, Proverbs, and coming up next, Ecclesiastes. These three have been a solid reminder that when it comes to leadership, life, and becoming the men God created us to be, no book beats the Bible.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:5

We're still reflecting on the night with Coach Maloney. What a gift to hear from a man who not only talks faith but lives it. He shared from the heart and left it all on the field. One of his takeaways was a book called Two Chairs: The Secret That Changes Everything. We hadn't read it before, but we picked up copies, and let us tell you, it's powerful.

The big idea? Make space to sit with God—literally. The book invites us to imagine sitting in one chair and placing a second chair across from us for God. Then take time each day to talk to Him, listen, and trust.

“Once you meet with God, you'll discover something amazing. You’ll find out He does more than just listen. He has a plan—a plan to prosper you, give you hope, and light the path to your future. But to know those plans, we have to stop and listen.”

It's not complicated. But it does take intention. Face it, God knows what you're going through, why you're going through it, and how you're feeling about it. He knows you better than you know yourself.

As we start this week, take time to reflect on these three questions:

  1. Does God know your situation?YES. Trust it. Accept it. Let Him lift you above your circumstances and walk through it with Him.

  2. Is your situation too hard for God to handle? Of course not. But do we believe that deep down? Or do we act like we're on our own?

“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.”—Philippians 4:19
  1. Does God have a plan for you?YES! But are you listening? Or are you doing all the talking?

This week, pull up Two Chairs. Sit with Him. Talk to Him. Listen. He's got something to say.
