How Will You Be Remembered?

Memorial Day

We love Memorial Day because it feels like the unofficial start of summer, even when the weather does not cooperate.

Memorial Day is also a time to reflect on the legacy of those who came before us and made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy. Both of us had a dad or grandpa who served. We honor them and all who have served and continue to serve today. If that includes you, thank you. 🇺🇸

Memorial Day is also a good time to ask an important question: What will each of our legacies be? What will your legacy be when you are no longer here? Will it be the title you held, the money you made, your golf handicap, or the number of deals you closed? How will you be remembered, and how do you want to be remembered?

“A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children.” Proverbs 13:22.

Your legacy as a man of Christ will live LONG past you and will impact generations to come. As you all know from our previous Fist Bumps, we have a small group of Seven24 guys going through Rick Warren’s Purpose Driven Life. This past week, we explored how to use our God-given gifts. Each of us was uniquely created by God with gifts that He passionately desires us to use to create our legacy and serve Him.

When people say your name and reflect on your life years from now, what will they say?

  • Were you a guy who lived and displayed your love of Christ? Or did you hide your faith under a basket, afraid to be Bold and speak the truth of the Bible?

  • Were you a guy who loved his wife and kids in such a way that they never doubted it? Or were you the husband and dad who was so focused on your career, your work, your golf game, your cell phone, that your family never felt your heartfelt LOVE and attention?

  • Were you a friend who showed up when one of your close friends needed your help and support? Or were you too busy to give them the time and attention they so desperately needed?

  • Were you a leader who encouraged and led with a sense of service to others? Or were you a leader who was so focused on your own needs and career that others doubted your integrity when you told them you really cared about them more than you?

  • Were you a man who walked with God even when life hit you hard? Or did you turn from God and blame Him for your tough situation?

Gentlemen, these are tough questions we need to ask ourselves as we face the temptations in today’s world. Your legacy will not be built on one big moment. It will be built on consistency over time, living a life of integrity, honesty, and a willingness to be the man of service that God created YOU to be. We all want to finish the race well.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7

May we all stay focused on the goal and finish the race strong!! May we make sure our legacy pleases God and results in His welcoming us into our eternal home. May our focus be on Him, saying:

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:23

We appreciate each of you and pray for you regularly.

Remember, our faith walk is a journey, not a sprint. We are ALL on this journey TOGETHER, taking one step at a time. Helping and supporting each other along the way.
