Seek God’s Wisdom and Friendship for True Preparedness in Life

Prepare for life's challenges by seeking God's wisdom daily. Embrace the power of faith and close friendships to confidently face each day with peace and strength.

While listening to a recent Scottie Scheffler interview, they asked him what the most important thing was when he got ready for a tournament—his answer was PREPARATION.  That makes sense, for sure! Of course, we want to be prepared. It seems obvious.

Being prepared gives us confidence as we enter new situations, but being prepared can be challenging in today's complex, fast-paced world. Things and situations come at us fast, and we are called on to respond.

As we considered "being prepared" for life's challenges, we asked ourselves what can help us all be better prepared to face each day with confidence and a sense of peace, knowing that curve balls will most likely come our way.

"Look to the Lord and HIS strength; seek his face always" 1 Chronicles 16:11
"God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far away from any of us" Act 17:27

Reading these verses reminds us that the first thing we must do to be prepared for life each day is to seek God and his wisdom. He loves it when we do that. He wants us to get ready by putting our faith in Him.

We do this by taking time each morning to spend time in the Word and devote some time to prayer. The Bible contains great advice and wisdom on PREPARE for life's challenges. Use it. Make it a priority in your effort to be prepared.

We also listen to and talk to God, asking for HIS assistance to get us in shape and prepare for the day. In many ways, God is the trainer working us out. He will give you the wisdom to be better prepared to reflect on HIM as you take on your daily tasks. Knowing He is walking with you will give you the added confidence you often need to take that "next step" in your situation.

Another thing we have found beneficial in preparedness is having a close friend you can walk closely with and seek wisdom and advice from. We think God uses others in our lives to speak to us and prepare us to be more Godly men. We talk about this often, one of the key reasons we started Seven24. We are reminded of two verses we reference frequently.

"As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another" Proverb 27:17
"And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him – a threefold cord is not quickly broken" Ecclesiastes 4:12

Having someone to lean on who you know will have your back will help you feel prepared as you go into each day and what it brings you. Knowing that you can call on them in any situation will help.

Seeing so many of you at our event last Tuesday evening was great.  For those of you who could not make it, we presented a challenge to consider.  We passed out a copy of Rick Warren's book, A PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE, and challenged everyone to find another guy to go through the book with for 40 days and to connect daily, sharing how that day's reading impacted you. We did this seven years ago, and it greatly impacted our lives. It committed us to work on being better PREPARED daily by connecting with God. It also showed us the power of relationships and how having someone you can "work out with" along with God can greatly impact you being PREPARED for what life throws at you.

I hope you all have a good week. As Scottie said, work on being PREPARED!
