Reflecting on Team Efforts in Football and Faith.
Tough evening last night for Lions fans. So close to the opportunity for our first Super Bowl! Oh well, there is always next year! Watching the game reminded us of the team effort required to coordinate and win a professional football game. From game strategy and play-calling to execution and effort on the field. Each guy out there has a role, with God-given gifts and talents to perform in his role for the team.
Wouldn’t it be nice to walk onto the field knowing with certainty you would win? Would we play the game differently? Well, I am happy to say that God has given us that opportunity through Jesus’s death on the cross. He has given us the game strategy and the tools to win. Now, the only question is, what will we do about it? Guys, we are all on ONE team.
“Just as a body, through one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.” 1 Corinthians 12:12
As we read in 1 Corinthians, the body is the CHURCH. It is made up of many different parts. Guys, WE are the body. We each play a role in building and growing GOD’s KINGDOM. How are we doing as teammates? Are we supporting, building each other up, and winning TOGETHER?
“So that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.” 1 Corinthians 12:25-26.
We are all human. We have and will make mistakes. We aren’t expected to do it all on our own. That’s why we are a TEAM!!! Remember, we have teammates to help pick us up when we fall! As Solomon said:
“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
We are here for you guys. Please reach out if you could use some help or to be lifted up. We are praying for you all each week. We appreciate your continued prayers, support, and encouragement of Seven24.
Question to reflect on this week. What game are we playing? Are we focused on winning from a worldly perspective, focusing on Money, Power, Pride, and our desires? Or are we using our talents for God’s team? To grow his Kingdom, serve others, and show the LOVE of Christ each day?
