When Life Feels Like Battle

Stand Strong This Lent. Life moves fast. Work. Family. Deadlines. Responsibilities. Expectations.
Before we know it, the weeks blur together, and our focus drifts from the things that matter most. That is why seasons like Lent matter. They give us space to slow down and remember what Jesus did for us.
This past week, our Seven24 group spent time in devotion, reflecting on the Lenten season. Some of us are giving something up. Some are committing to daily devotion. Others are simply trying to be more intentional about prayer.
Whatever your tradition, Lent is a reminder to bring our attention back to Christ and the sacrifice He made on the cross for us.
Jesus made it clear when He said,
“Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”John 14:6
During our devotions, we spent time in Psalm 27. King David wrote this Psalm. David was a warrior, a leader, and a man who faced conflict regularly. Yet amid chaos and uncertainty, David kept his focus on one thing.
“One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and seek him in his temple.”Psalm 27:4
The devotion referred to Psalm 27 as a fight song. Words that prepare our hearts for battle. That idea hits home. Because if we are honest, life can feel like a battle. Some days we feel strong and ready to charge forward. On other days, we feel worn down, scattered, or unsure of which direction to take next.
David understood that feeling. Yet he reminds us where our strength comes from.
“The Lord is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life of whom shall I be afraid?”Psalm 27:1
When Jesus is on our side, fear does not get the final word.
That does not mean life will be easy. Scripture never promises that. But it does promise something better. It promises that God is working for our good and preparing something far greater than what we see today.
David says it this way,
“I remain confident of this I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”Psalm 27:13
That confidence changes everything.
It gives us strength when we feel worn down. It gives us peace when the world feels chaotic. It gives us courage to keep moving forward.
As we move through this Lent season, take a few minutes this week to pause and reflect on what Christ did for us on the cross and the hope we have because of His resurrection.
And remember David’s final encouragement in Psalm 27.
“Wait for the Lord be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”Psalm 27:14
Be strong this week. Trust God's plan. And step forward like the warriors God called us to be.
