Be Still and Know God Is With You

listen this holiday season

If you are like us, this time of year sure seems busy. Work deadlines. Family expectations. School events. Christmas parties. Financial pressure.

We hear we are supposed to be joyful and embracing the season, yet many of us are just trying to catch our breath. This may not hit home for everyone, but we know it will resonate with a lot of you.

The season meant to celebrate the Prince of Peace often steals our peace.

In our office, we keep a framed verse on the wall.

"Be still and know that I am God" Psalm 46:10

Stop for a moment. Right now. Reflect on these simple words. God did not say, “Hurry up and know that I am God.”He did not say, “Fill your calendar and push harder and know that I am God.” He said, “Be still.”

Men, stillness is not weakness. It is strength. It is a way to recharge, recenter, and return to being the husbands, dads, Papas, and friends He created us to be. If you want to grow stronger and more grounded in the middle of life’s challenges, find space in your schedule for being still.

When God calls us to be still, He is not asking us to abandon everything. We believe He is calling us to refocus. To reset our priorities.

Our challenge to each of you, and to ourselves, is simple. Between today and Christmas, let’s be more intentional about finding time to be still. Here are a few ways to build that muscle:

  • Start your day with three minutes of silence. No phone. No music. Just breathe and acknowledge that God is right there with you.

  • Go to God first, not your phone. Before you reach for your screen, be still and talk to Him. Even a simple “Thank you for another day” is a powerful start.

  • Build margin into your schedule. Put stillness on your calendar. You can do this.

  • Practice the ten-second pause. Before reacting, deciding, answering, or walking into a meeting, take ten seconds to invite God in.

When we quiet our outer world, we make room to hear God’s voice. It rises above everything else.

God wants us to celebrate the Prince of Peace this season. To do that, we need to find peace. And when we take even a few minutes each day to be still, we believe we will find more clarity, more wisdom, more joy, and less pressure.

As we close, reflect on this verse.

“Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, He said to them, Come with Me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” Mark 6:31

Men, have a great week. Our prayer is that each of us finds moments to be still and know that He is our God.
