Who Do You Call in the Tough Times

Who do you call in tough times?

Happy Labor Day weekend, men!

As the long weekend gives us a chance to rest, catch up, or spend time with family and friends, it’s a good time to reflect on the people who walk through life with us.

Last week, we looked at “life jackets”—the support we lean on when the waters get rough. This week, we want to dig deeper into that theme and talk about the importance of relationships.

We (Bill & Jeremy) count it a blessing to not only work together professionally, but also to walk together personally as friends and brothers in Christ. This week, as we faced some challenges, we were reminded again that life is not meant to be done alone. And let’s be real—it isn’t always easy. Relationships take time, intentionality, and sometimes grit.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 puts it plainly:"Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up."

That’s the power of Christian brotherhood. The guy you’d call in the middle of the night isn’t just an acquaintance. That kind of trust is built over years of investing, showing up, and walking through both the victories and the struggles together.

Jesus Himself modeled this for us. Philippians 2:6-7 describes His mindset of humility and sacrifice. He gave His life so that we could live—not because it was easy, but because we needed Him.

So here’s our challenge for this week 👇

Think about the men God has put in your life. Are you investing in those relationships, or are they running on autopilot? Maybe today’s the day to reach out—to send the text, make the call, or show up.

We’re praying that you’ll both find the encouragement you need and be the encouragement someone else needs. As 1 Thessalonians 5:11 reminds us:

“Therefore, encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and may it be one of renewal, reflection, and brotherhood.
